He has presented at numerous national and international conferences and events, acted as a National Advisor to the Scottish Government, and is involved with the European Union in developing mental health services across Europe using interventions, including Stress Control.
Jim is also the presenter of the online Stress Control courses, guiding thousands of people worldwide through evidence-based techniques to better understand and manage their mental health.
By choosing Stress Control, you’re choosing a globally recognised, evidence-based approach proven to deliver real, lasting results.
Unlike traditional therapy, where progress can fade over time, Stress Control equips you with practical CBT techniques to manage your mental health independently. By becoming your own therapist, you carry these tools forward—empowering you to take lasting control. Independent research has shown that Stress Control participants not only maintain progress but often continue to improve long after the course has ended.
Stress Control is one of the world’s most extensively researched psychoeducational programmes for common mental health problems, with dozens of independent studies published in leading peer-reviewed journals. Proven to be as effective as individual therapy but far more cost-efficient, it offers a powerful, evidence-based solution for managing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and more.
Waiting lists and restricted access to mental health support can feel like roadblocks when you’re struggling. Stress Control removes these barriers by offering instant access to support. Whether you attend a community class, join through your workplace, or take part online from home, the course fits around your life—ready when you are to take that first step towards feeling better.
Stress Control is widely used by the NHS (UK), HSC (NI), and HSE (ROI), as well as by third-sector organisations and large private companies across the world.
